Seattle: Dashcam Captures Hit-and-Run Driver on I-5 Hitting Vehicle Twice, Cited Later

WFCN –

Within hours, authorities were able to track down the hit-and-run motorist thanks to the driver’s back dashcam video.

The shocking rear dashcam film from Interstate 5 from earlier last week (July 3, 2024) was shared by presumed Seattleite and Redditor /u/bwolf457. It shows the incredible moment his wife was hit twice by a hit-and-run motorist before, as the offense suggests, speeding away.

Fortunately, authorities were alert, and with the help of this dashcam owner’s footage and another accident that happened an hour later (which we’ll discuss), they were able to find the culprit in a matter of hours.

As previously stated, the incident happened in Seattle, Washington, on I-5 (exact location on Google Maps given here.)

As shown in the video, the OP’s wife is stuck in stop-and-go traffic on the I-5 when, out of nowhere, a motorist in what appears to be a lowered Chevrolet Suburban strikes the back of her car twice in quick succession.

His license plates are CKS2663 from Washington.

The Suburban’s driver pauses, but instead of pulling over to the shoulder or following the OP’s wife to the closest exit, the driver takes off quickly and flees.

“Oh yeah, we got a great, clear shot of his plates,” the user adds in response to a different Redditor.

According to OP, the hit-and-run driver’s escape was brief because the police soon apprehended him.

He was caught up by police four hours after the event. About half an hour after one hit-and-run, he was involved in another one up the highway. I suppose the guy just couldn’t resist hitting automobiles that day.

You can probably imagine why this guy was hitting cars on I-5 while driving around.

Based on my experience writing about unusual, isolated events like this, the motorist was most likely impaired by drink or another substance.
