Tremendous Weekend: Three Parishes Saw Four Distinct Shootings That Claimed Five Lives

NEW ORLEANS (WFCN) — Over the course of three violent days in southeast Louisiana, four distinct shootings that took place across three parishes resulted in five fatalities.

Parish of Orleans:

In two different gunshot incidents that occurred around Orleans Parish, two men lost their lives.

The first occurred on Saturday night in New Orleans’ Iberville district. A guy was discovered shot dead in the 300 block of Marais Street at approximately 11:05 p.m., according to the New Orleans Police Department, who stated they are looking into a homicide. Keiona Robertson, a woman, has been taken into custody by New Orleans police in relation to the killing.

Monday’s early morning hours saw the second fatal shooting take place in Central City. A killing that occurred in the 2400 block of Jackson Avenue is being looked into by the NOPD.

According to preliminary reports, at around 2:15 a.m. on Monday, an adult male was shot at least once in the torso. When emergency medical personnel came, they pronounced the man dead.

Parish of Jefferson:

Two males were found shot to death late on Sunday afternoon in Avondale, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking into a tragic double shooting.

About 5:30 p.m., two unresponsive men were reported inside a house in the 200 block of Coretta Drive, and that’s when deputies discovered what was inside.

The investigation is still in its early stages, according to the sheriff’s office, and no more details are available at this time.

St. John the Baptist Parish

At before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, a drive-by on Airline Highway near Reserve, Louisiana, claimed the life of a 16-year-old girl.

Aariah Henry, 16, lost her life in the drive-by shooting, according to St. John the Baptist Sheriff Michael Tregre. Henry was not, according to Sheriff Tregre, the intended target of the gunshot.

In an effort to identify a suspect, the sheriff’s office shared a video of the shooting on social media.

When muzzle flashes from at least four rounds fired from the passenger window of one of the cars, which authorities believe to be a 2015 gray Kia Optima that was reported stolen out of New Orleans in March, are shown in the footage, two cars are seen traveling north on Airline Highway.

As of this now, detectives have no leads. At 504-494-2674, please contact Captain Brandon Barlow of the Criminal Investigations Division of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office if you have any information.
