During the Maximum Enforcement Period, more than 1,300 cases involving DUIs were investigated.

To make sure everyone in California was safe over the Fourth of July weekend, the California Highway Patrol had a Maximum Enforcement Period. This endeavor yielded the following statewide statistics:
- Over 1,300 of the 1,600 arrests were for driving under the influence.
- Over 17,000 tickets for speeding were among nearly 30,000 total.
- The number of drivers cited for speeds over 100 miles per hour exceeds 600.
- Over a thousand cases of seatbelt infractions reported.
- More than 1,900 tickets for driving while distracted.
A huge pat on the back to all the CHP areas that went above and beyond to ensure the safety of Californians over the Fourth of July weekend.
