Southern Arizona Drug Seizure: Troopers Recover 138 Pounds of Illicit Drugs, Major Impact

Arizona —

Troopers never stop trying to stop the entry of harmful substances into our communities.

In two distinct occurrences in southern Arizona on Thursday, June 6, troopers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) seized about 138.6 pounds of illegal substances.

The first instance happened after a vehicle search was initiated by a traffic stop in Yuma County early on June 6. A trooper conducting the search came across bundles of allegedly illegal drugs hidden inside a spare tire.

Subsequent examination of the car showed more parcels concealed inside, and about 38.6 pounds of fentanyl pills were found in total.

Charges against one suspect included possession of drug paraphernalia and transportation of a narcotic drug for sale. The defendant was taken into custody and lodged into the Yuma County Jail.
