Brooklyn NYCHA Shooting: NYPD Apprehends Suspect in Fatal Incident

WFCN –

Just after midnight on Friday, during a fight inside the NYCHA housing complex, a man was taken into custody by police for repeatedly shooting a resident of Brooklyn’s Albany Houses in the head.

Usamah Sidberry, 37, was accused of shooting 21-year-old Dyseem Jackson to death and of having illegal possession of a weapon, according to the police.

At 12:15 a.m., police found Jackson sprawled out on the ground with several gunshot wounds to his head after responding to a complaint of an assault taking place at the NYCHA’s Albany Houses in Crown Heights.

Authorities stated he passed away at the scene.

Officials from the NYCHA complex reported that the incident happened in front of an apartment building on Bergen St.

Once the gunshots stopped, a man wearing all black and a gold chain was observed leaving the area. Nobody has been taken into custody.

Authorities noted that although Jackson lived at the Albany Houses, he did so on the opposite side of the complex. There was no immediate announcement of the shooting’s purpose.

Officers searched the area for security footage that would have helped them identify the gunman before making the arrest.
