Southeast DC Shocked: 2-Year-Old Wounded, 2 Men Slain in Shooting Incident

THE WASHINGTON –

Outraged neighbors have taken to the streets as police in the nation’s capital continue their search for those responsible for a quadruple shooting that wounded a toddler and killed two men.

There was a shooting just before 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of 22nd and Alabama Ave SE. The chief of the MPD department, Pamela Smith, has stated that a gang of armed individuals opened fire and took off running. Chief Smith stated that it seems there were a minimum of three individuals armed.

Once again, we must do something about the epidemic of gun violence in our neighborhoods. This is getting old for us, Smith added. “We want to say to our community we are working hard every day to ensure this kind of violence is decreased in our community.”

A two-year-old girl was hurt and another guy was wounded in the incident. The toddler was strolling outdoors with a group of other children from the daycare when the shooting occurred, according to authorities on Thursday. It is not believed that her injuries or the victim’s who managed to live are life-threatening.

Any child shot on the street should have the mayor held accountable, in my opinion. It is she who holds the office of mayor. Johnson warned the chief not to announce his stance before the meeting. “Families aren’t feeling secure.

Kids and teens don’t feel secure. Even though we have a lot of issues, all I’ve heard from the chief today is a series of talking points, and I’m sick of hearing them as an elected official and mother of a 5-year-old. There needs to be a shift, and the mayor, chief, and other leaders must step forward.

Near the spot where the shooting took place, Shaylah Parker resides. According to her, her dissatisfaction lies with the community at large.

Since humans are unchanging, nothing will change. Kids are having children. Baby boomers, followed by infants with no knowledge whatsoever. The next group is infants who are murdering other infants. You’re completely helpless. “I simply do what I need to do and go home,” Parker stated.

“Within our own community, we have problems; how can we expect to be different from other communities?”

I don’t understand it. Everyone is confusing. Officials in charge of government. Common people. Everyone is chatting but no one is taking any action. Communicating is pointless “

As of Thursday’s shooting, Chief Smith reported that 95 homicides had occurred in the District of Columbia this year.

Killing someone just once is unacceptable. There should not be more than one murder in the nation’s capital. We’ve had enough of this; trust me when I say it.

She reassured them that they were doing everything they could. Significant incidents in this area have not occurred for an extremely long time. I applaud the commanders who have been diligently working to clean up this region from some action that occurred months ago. Their efforts are commendable, but we are also aware that things will happen.
