Following an Ohio nightclub shooting, two individuals are dead and two more are injured.
According to our news partner WBNS in Columbus, Columbus Police officers were sent to Avalon at the 2000 block of North 5th Street on Friday morning around 1:45 a.m.
One individual was declared dead at the site, while another passed away in the hospital, said to assistant chief Greg Bodker.
Two more were sent to nearby hospitals by ambulance.
According to Bodker, first signs suggest that an altercation resulted in the shooting, as reported by WBNS.
The shooting is the subject of a thorough investigation by law authorities. Officers are currently assembling the sequence of events that led up to the terrible incident by interviewing witnesses and looking through CCTV footage. At this point, no suspects have been named or taken into custody, and it’s still unknown why the incident occurred.
The trauma of the incident is still affecting the local community. In memory of the victims, memorials and vigils are being held, and locals are requesting more security at nightclubs in the area to stop disasters like this one from happening again.
