WFCN –
Here is all the information you require before visiting Pembroke Pines’ Champet Restaurant and Bar. Following a complaint inspection, the site was closed on August 1.
They have a history of closures, having already been closed in July 2022. Let’s have a look at the results of the inspection:
Main Concerns:
- Live roaches were found on the ceiling of the back room adjacent to the kitchen, indicating a roach problem. The wall above the employee rights posting also had the remains of roaches.
- Insects in Flight: While checking out the to-go section, inspectors discovered a real, live insect in flight. Keeping pests at bay is essential in any room, even if it isn’t in the kitchen.
- Several problems with temperature regulation were encountered:
- Both the cooked sausage and the shredded lettuce were over the safe cold holding temperature of 41°F in the Kitchen Flip Top, measuring 54°F and 50°F, respectively. According to the operator, these things had spent the night in the apartment.
- By midday, the chicken that had been chilling on the kitchen counter since 9 AM had reached an internal temperature of 80°F. Within the allotted two hours, it failed to reach the necessary 70°F.
- Cooked beef was not cooling quickly enough; after 25 minutes, the temperature had dropped from 69°F to 60°F. It remained at room temperature on the countertop.
Concerns about food safety may have arisen due to the use of unapproved cooling methods for some foods.
Superfluous People in the Prep Area: A little kid was spotted making his way through the kitchen as food was being cooked.

The potential for contamination makes this an absolute no-go. Despite the operator’s instructions to keep the child away from the prep area, they were spotted in the to-go cashier station later on.
Next Steps:
The restaurant was temporarily shuttered on August 2, 2024, for a follow-up inspection. These matters were attended to by Champet Restaurant and Bar prior to their reopening.
In addition to making sure everything is spotless, they should improve their methods of insect control and food handling.
