Big Tragedy at Florida Beach: Three Alabama Men Drown After Swimming Distress

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Florida —

Authorities said on Saturday morning that three guys from Alabama had drowned at a beach in the Florida Panhandle after becoming upset while swimming.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office stated on Facebook that the young men had gone to the Panama City Beach area on Friday night.

Soon after 8 p.m., the sheriff’s office received an emergency call regarding the swimmers who were in difficulty, according to officials. Rescue attempts were launched by the US Coast Guard and other agencies. The males were recovered separately, eventually declared dead at nearby hospitals, and were not immediately identified.

A Pennsylvania couple traveling to Florida on Thursday drowned while swimming after getting sucked into a rip current. They had six children with them.

According to a Facebook post by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the man and lady were swept away by the current on Hutchinson Island, which is located along Florida’s southeast coast.
