Dashcam Footage Reveals Dramatic Hit-and-Run; JP Couple Survives Terrifying Collision

Getna, Louisiana ( WFCN ) —

On Saturday night, Isabella Landeche was riding shotgun in the passenger seat, and a dashcam video captures her perspective from inside the vehicle. A crimson truck abruptly halted her boyfriend’s car as they were on their way home.

Listening to his cries, Landeche “saw red” (because the truck was red) and became “totally disoriented” in an instant.

The incident took place in Gretna near the crossroads of Wall Boulevard and Iberia Street. Following their birthday celebration, Landeche’s boyfriend was driving her home. As he shifts into the right lane, he claims to have just checked his blind spot. The red truck races across the screen as he begins to combine.

“I felt blood oozing out of my nose the first sense I recalled after the accident,” Landeche recalled.

That, thankfully, was the extent of their injuries; what happened immediately following the accident, however, is just as tragic. Another perspective is shown via surveillance footage from a neighboring residence. The driver of the red vehicle abruptly turns around and drives away down Iberia Street following the accident.

To have “totally disregard for somebody’s life” is something Landeche finds incomprehensible, particularly in the aftermath of a catastrophic catastrophe.

In the United States, hit-and-run accidents are rather prevalent, according to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. According to Triple A, the American Automobile Association, one fatal crash occurs every 43 seconds in the United States, with Louisiana ranking among the top three states in terms of this statistic.

According to Landeche, “his car hitting us, over and over again,” is the only sound that can be heard whenever she closes her eyes at night.

The outcome was additional harm to their property for this pair. The airbags went off after the front of the vehicle was crushed. Since the driver departed, obtaining a license plate became impossible, and the liability insurance policy will not provide much assistance. They are only hoping that the owner of the truck can be located.

“We know it’s a red Nissan Titian and it’s obviously going to have some kind of damage to the passenger side,” Landeche warned.

This is the aftermath of a tragic accident from which they are grateful to have escaped unharmed.

WWL Louisiana contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to inquire about the current status of this investigation and to gather information regarding the number of hit-and-run incidents in the parish. An official would only confirm that the Traffic Division has been notified of the collision and is now investigating it.
