Big Penalty! Arizona Man Jailed for Multi-State $1M Merchandise Theft

PHOENIX –

After being found guilty of stealing products worth over a million dollars in Arizona and other states, a “prolific” organized retail thief received a years-long jail sentence.

June 20: Juan Ambriz-Rincon will serve three and a half years in prison and be required to pay $300,000 in restitution, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

“This criminal made it his full-time job to steal over $1 million from retail stores and then resell the stolen merchandise, rather than being gainfully employed,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell stated.

“Although the crimes were committed in several states, the victim company asked MCAO to prosecute here because of MCAO’s expertise in organized retail theft case,” said the county attorney’s office.

The Home Depot was the only victim of the thefts, according to MCAO.

“Organized retail crime is still putting pressure on The Home Depot nationwide. “We can stop this growing trend in Maricopa County thanks to the efforts of Rachel Mitchell and her team,” Sean Browne, senior manager of organized retail crime at The Home Depot, stated.
