WFCN – The 12-story apartment skyscraper located in Chelsea, Manhattan, known as 280 Eighth Avenue, is currently under construction.
SLCE Architects created the design for this 113-foot-tall building, which is being developed by Red Apple Group under the RA 280 Development LLC.
It will have 58,021 square feet of space, 64 rental units with an average size of 819 square feet, 4,642 square feet of commercial space, 947 square feet of community facility space, a cellar level, and a 24-foot-long rear yard. The address of the property is Eighth Avenue and West 24th Street corner.
Since early May, when we last updated you, when crews were wrapping up substructure construction, the foundation slab and perimeter walls have been created. Over the past month, the superstructure made of reinforced concrete has started to rise above the sidewalk shed.

Scaffolding and wooden formwork are helping to level the most recent walls, columns, and floor slabs. The structure may reach its peak before the end of the summer, depending on the rate of construction.
The building is portrayed in renderings as an eight-story volume with a light gray brick facade at the corner, bookended by narrower parts that are the full twelve stories tall and have dark gray paneling with balconies stacked on top of them.
Above the eighth story, there is a setback that leads to a recessed upper volume with additional balconies around each of the three corners and a glass curtain wall with black mullions and ventilation grilles. A mechanical bulkhead that traces the shape of the top floor’s western half is located above the flat roof parapet.
The C and E lines at the 23rd Street station, one block south of the property, are the closest subways.
As mentioned on site, November 2025 is the projected completion date for 280 Eighth Avenue.
