WFCN – An arrest was made at the site of a suspected DUI, and authorities reported that two persons were died in an early-morning crash on the 101 Freeway in Ventura.
According to Sgt. Ken Antonetti, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol, calls to 911 about 2:30 a.m. contained reports of a driver of a Volkswagen Jetta speeding south in northbound lanes at approximately 80 mph.
On the expressway close to Seaward Avenue, minutes later, the motorist traveling the wrong way struck a Nissan Versa with full force.

At the scene, Antonetti stated that the two Nissan occupants were declared deceased.
On suspicion of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter, the driver of a Volkswagen was brought into custody.
Not immediately made public were the identities of the suspect and the victims.
