Woman Checking on Vehicle Hit and Killed by Truck on I-85 South in Cabarrus County

(MJP) — In Cabrus County, North Carolina, According to authorities, a truck ran over a Winston-Salem woman who was inspecting her automobiles on I-85 South early Friday morning, killing her instantly.

The fatal crash happened on I-85 South in Cabarrus County at about 4:55 a.m. on Friday, August 9, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The road is located just south of Lane Street.

A 2014 Kia Optima was reported to have stopped in the far left lane on I-85 by troopers after experiencing automobile issues.

Winston-Salem resident Arlexia Taylor, 27, stepped out of her Kia to inspect it. According to the Highway Patrol, that is when a 2017 Chevrolet truck hit Taylor on the road. At the scene, Taylor was declared dead.

Minor injuries were treated for the driver of the Chevrolet truck after he was transferred to Atrium Northeast Hospital. Authorities determined that intoxication and speed did not play a role in the fatal crash.

On Friday morning, there was a two-hour closure of Interstate 85 South.

This crash is still under investigation, and no charges have been mentioned.
