FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA —
According to a statement made by the Fairfax County authorities Department on Thursday, former NBA superstar Delonte West was taken into custody following a brief pursuit during which authorities said they had to use Narcan.
After a brief police pursuit during which they momentarily lost sight of West, 40, he was taken into custody in Groveton, Virginia, in the 7200 block of Fairchild Drive.
West was given Narcan by police while they were on the scene, and after the medication “did not have the desired effect,” they transported him to a local hospital.
After administering Narcan to West once more, officials reported that it was effective. Subsequently, West was discharged from the hospital and brought to the adult detention center located in the county.

West discussed his continued treatment and efforts to manage bipolar disorder in an interview with ABC’s GMA3 in 2022.
