Silicon Valley GOP Leader: Trump Shooting Brought RNC Delegates Together

WFCN –

Silicon Valley’s top GOP figure discovered that a shooter had tried to gun down former President Donald Trump only moments after arriving in Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention on Saturday.

People were quite worried. Republican Party chairman for Santa Clara County Shane Patrick Connolly told San José Spotlight, “It was a pretty shocking and historic day.”

His phone hadn’t even updated with the latest texts, he claimed, and he had just gotten off the plane when someone next to him announced that a previous US president had been injured in a botched assassination for the first time in 43 years.

But, Connolly observed a sense of solidarity replacing the uneasy environment on Monday as he entered the gates of the four-day Republican gathering in Milwaukee, where he and the other 2,400 delegates will cast a nomination vote.

“The crowd was truly inspired by it.” Many happy Republicans here in Milwaukee make up this joyful group, according to Connolly. The city of the host has been really kind. The democratic mayor of Milwaukee came to our welcoming ceremony and gave a speech that was incredibly cohesive.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was the individual the FBI has identified as having climbed a nearby building on Saturday and fired a rifle less than 200 yards away at the Trump rally stage in Pennsylvania. He fired multiple times, according to the Associated Press, piercing part of Trump’s right ear, gravely injuring two others, and killing one person in the crowd.

Even yet, Ohio Senator JD Vance, Trump’s choice for vice president, was enthusiastically embraced by Republican convention attendees.

As a combat veteran who has experienced the horrors of war and consequently loves peace and stability, JD Vance is a terrific choice for vice president, according to Connolly, who spoke to San José Spotlight. “He’ll be a champion of hardworking Americans and he’s a great example of someone who has lived the American dream.”
