As firefighters continue to confine the Palisades Fire, the city of Santa Monica has canceled all curfews and evacuation alerts inside its boundaries.
All sections of Santa Monica north of San Vicente Boulevard will no longer have evacuation alerts, according to city officials. People who live nearby might come back.
Cal Fire reports that as containment is growing and expansion has been halted, several areas around the Eaton and Palisades fire zones have started to repopulate.
Santa Monica’s evacuation-warned areas are no longer subject to the 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew. Mandatory evacuation orders and a curfew are still in place for portions of Los Angeles County and City.
Santa Monica’s Pacific Coast Highway is now available to both businesses and residents. Additionally, all city street closures have been lifted by the Santa Monica Police Department. In places where evacuation alerts were already in effect, they encourage locals to exercise caution.
You can now reach businesses on the Santa Monica Pier and along PCH. PCH and the city of LA north of Santa Monica city borders are under the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Police Department. On January 23, the Annenberg Beach House, which has been closed since the Palisades Fire began, will reopen.
The California Highway Patrol has announced that the 10 Freeway would stay closed past Lincoln Boulevard until further notice. Drivers heading to Santa Monica should get off at Centinela Avenue or Lincoln or Cloverfield Boulevards.
