Ryan Strome’s goal late in 3rd period helps Ducks rally for 5-3 victory over Oilers

The Anaheim Ducks overcame a two-goal deficit in the second period to defeat the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 on Sunday, thanks to a goal by Ryan Strome with 2:36 left.

After a review, the original decision to not call Strome’s goal—his sixth of the season—was overturned. Before Edmonton goaltender Calvin Pickard could block Strome’s shot with his skate, it had completely crossed the goal line.

An empty-net goal was added by Mason McTavish. The Ducks have beaten the Oilers by more than one goal for the first time since March 30, 2019.

Robby Fabbri, McTavish, and Cutter Gauthier each had an assist and a goal. Anaheim’s seven-game losing streak to Edmonton was ended by a goal by Drew Helleson.

20 saves were made by Lukas Dostal.

The Oilers, who were 3-0-1 in their last four games, received two goals from Leon Draisaitl and two assists from Connor McDavid. Pickard saved 27 saves, and Evan Bouchard also scored a goal.

Oilers: Draisaitl made history by being the fourth player to record at least 120 points during the regular season. In 2024, the forward has 71 assists and 50 goals. 1993 was the last calendar year with as many NHL skaters scoring 120 points or more.

Ducks: Anaheim has won four of its last seven games and led 32–23 in shots on goal.

After receiving the pass from McTavish, Fabbri made a snap shot from the right faceoff circle with 2:27 left to knot the score at 3-all. In eight games since he returned from a knee injury, Fabbri has seven points (three goals, four assists).
