During a pursuit with Los Angeles County deputies, a potentially intoxicated suspect crashed multiple times in North Hollywood.
Following reports of a drunk motorist striking at least four cars close to La CaƱada Flintridge, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department began the pursuit. The motorist refused to stop when deputies attempted to pull him over, hitting other vehicles, hitting a LASD cruiser, and almost hitting two children and other pedestrians, according to LASD.
Despite the suspect hitting multiple other vehicles, the pursuit persisted throughout the San Fernando Valley. The driver side-swiped one innocent motorist as it proceeded into North Hollywood’s surface streets.
Before coming to Vineland Avenue and Lankershim Boulevard, the suspect kept driving past red lights and swerved through crowded intersections. The driver’s side of the suspect’s car was hit by another motorist there.
The car seemed to be fishtailing shortly after the collision due to the damage it had sustained. Due to the damage, the driver swerved and struck a Vineland Avenue curb before coming to a stop in the middle of the road, with deputies following closely after.
The suspect did not get out of the vehicle right away. When the airbags deployed and obscured the windows, deputies remained out of sight. Deputies were assisted in securing the area by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Deputies detained the man on several criminal charges following a standoff that lasted almost an hour.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this horrible incident. “Continuous and continuous assessment, discipline, and management are necessary for every endeavor,” Acting Captain Ryan A. Vienna said. “We are relieved that the individual arrested no longer poses a threat to the community.”
Near Ramsdell Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, deputies requested assistance in locating the two kids who were almost hit during the chase. We encourage anyone else who was hit by the suspect to contact (818) 248-3464.
