Diners at a Tennessee mall restaurant are expressing their sorrow about the restaurant’s closing, which they say is due to a drop in customers.

Just weeks after announcing the closure of another restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory has formally shut down one of its renowned mall locations.

So, when the restaurant closes, 154 people will be out of a job.

In an interview with WREG-TV, a manager from The Cheesecake Factory in the Wolfchase Galleria mall confirmed that the official closing date was July 14.

We have made the painful choice to cease operations of our restaurant in Memphis after thorough assessment and analysis.

In a statement, the corporation announced that July 14, 2024, will be their last day of service.

“Our guests’ patronage has been greatly appreciated, and we have enjoyed our nine years of being a part of the Memphis community.”

The revelation devastated the American chain’s fan base, who vented their frustrations on Facebook.

“This is sad… Memphis is just in shambles,” Kierria Jones, a customer at the Cheesecake Factory, said.

She compared the mall’s downfall to that of a “flea market” and said that this was the reason for its demise.

The Wolfchase Galleria, which first opened to the public in 2015, was the subject of commentary from other Redditors who live in Memphis.

“It’s definitely been going downhill, but I think it will hold on to its last breath as a zombie for maybe another decade,” one customer said.

According to another resident, the mall “scrambled for ANY source of revenue” by renting out its parking lot to various merchants, bouncing houses, and truck parking.

The Tennessee Cheesecake Factory’s management remained tight-lipped about the restaurant’s closure.

On the other hand, they did mention that the staff was notified a few weeks before to the permanent closure.

Workers were taken aback by the announcement, particularly because The Cheesecake Factory is planning to open a slew of new locations this year as part of its expansion.

May saw the chain’s announcement that five new US stores have opened in Q1 2024.

Additionally, The Cheesecake Factory has announced that it may launch as many as 22 new stores this year.

Fox 2 reports that on August 18, the Chesterfield, Missouri, mall site of The Cheesecake Factory, which is 25 miles away from St. Louis, will close.

The restaurant will close early in anticipation of the mall’s destruction, even though its contract technically expires on August 31.
