With the sudden closure of over 40 locations worldwide, a large restaurant business is now closing in Georgia.
The weekend saw the closure of five Hooters restaurants in Georgia.
The websites for the Hooter locations in Atlanta, Brunswick, Hiram, McDonough, and Macon have already been taken down.
With Hooters’ Atlanta headquarters, this is particularly startling.
At the team’s last meeting on Sunday, when they were all informed of the closure, former employee Alicia Williams shared a video of the staff on Facebook.
She said as the post’s caption, “And just like that, we are all unemployed.”
In addition, she sent a picture of a letter detailing the closure that was distributed from the company headquarters.
“Be assured that we made every effort to prevent this location from closing, and this decision was not made hastily,” the letter says.

“That we were unable to provide you with notice, we sincerely apologize.”
She responded, “Not at all,” when someone in the comments questioned whether she had been aware of the closure previously.
Fortunately, the state is home to 16 other Hooters restaurants:
- Downtown Atlanta
- In Augusta
- The Cartersville
- Conyers, Ohio, Columbus, Ohio
- The Douglasville
- Gwinnett-Kennesaw
- In Lawrenceville
- The Mall of Georgia
- The Roswell Savannah in Newnan
- Tara Boulevard Valdosta
The Hooters in Wichita Falls, Texas, experienced a similar circumstance.
When they arrived at work that morning, staff members informed local news source KFDX about the closure.
Local CBS affiliate KAUZ was informed by a bartender that “I think it’s a bit ridiculous to not even give us a week.”
I don’t know what to do now since we are dependent on the money, so it was really shocking.
Based on data from restaurant consulting firm Technomic, there are over 300 Hooters locations worldwide, however overall store count has decreased by 12% since 2018.
Because of the pressures of the current market, the firm announced that it would close some underperforming outlets.
