Overturned big rig creates hours-long traffic delay on I-5 in Castaic

On Sunday afternoon, there was a long traffic backlog on the I-5 Freeway in Castaic due to an overturned big rig.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was initially reported in the northbound freeway’s far right lane at approximately 2:55 a.m.

According to the officers, the semi truck was in some kind of collision that turned it onto its side and damaged the guardrail along the freeway, which blocked the same lane.

CHP officials issued a lengthy SigAlert for the two rightmost lanes due to the cleanup, which lasted from approximately 3 a.m. to 5 p.m.

It’s unknown whether anyone was hurt in the crash or whether any additional cars were involved.

Shortly after the vehicle was uprighted, SkyCal flew over the site. Given that it looked like the hood had been torn off during the collision, the tractor section of the tractor trailer had significant damage.

No other details were given.
