Orange and Riverside county Metrolink services canceled due to downed power lines

Due to downed power lines obstructing the tracks, Metrolink services to Orange and Riverside counties have been suspended.

Metrolink declared on Monday that there would be no alternative transit available and that all RIV, 91/PV, and OC trains would not be running.

Metrolink said the service closure affects freight and passenger rail traffic between Commerce and Los Angeles.

According to Metrolink, additional teams from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power are putting in extra effort to fix the damaged towers that supported the power lines along the rails and the LA River.

“The cause for the entire-line service suspensions is Metrolink needs to access Union Station and the Central Maintenance Facility north of the track closure in order to operate the three respective lines effectively throughout a weekday,” a post from Metrolink on Facebook stated.

On Wednesday morning, the lines are anticipated to be operational.
