NYPD Officer Among Two Shot in New Jersey Hotel; Suspect Fatally Shot in Gunfight

Wednesday night, following an exchange of gunfire with a suspect who was eventually killed, two law enforcement officers—among them an officer of the New York City Police Department (NYPD)—were wounded at a hotel in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

Numerous law enforcement organizations, including the NYPD, the Woodbridge and Edison police departments, as well as FOX 5 in New York, stated that they were called to an incident at the Raritan Hotel on King Georges Post Road.

As soon as a suspect started firing shots, officers started looking into the events at the hotel.

It’s reported that one of the local officers was injured during the exchange, though it’s unclear where, and that an NYPD officer was shot in the foot.

The cops are anticipated to heal from their wounds, according to officials.

“The NYPD detective who was shot and injured in Woodbridge, NJ underscores the courage and commitment by members of the Detectives’ Endowment Association to put themselves in extreme danger to ensure violent, career criminals face justice,” the head of the DEA, Paul DiGiacomo, “This would have been the second attempted murder in any of our towns if not for their tireless efforts in tracking down this wanted person.

Thank goodness there will be no funeral to arrange, and let us honor the courageous detectives and Woodbridge police officers.”
