New Report Lists DC as One of the Sweatiest Cities in the U.S.

WASHINGTON —

The nation’s capital, home to famous landmarks, influential politicians, and a thriving cultural scene, earns yet another accolade: the title of third sweatiest city in America.

According to research from Thumbtack, Washington, DC was ranked third most sweatiest city, behind only Atlanta and Austin.

Thumbtack said that the cities were chosen according to, “the most requests for projects including central air conditioning repair or maintenance, central air conditioning installation or replacement, window, wall or portable AC repair or maintenance, fan installation and thermostat installation or repair between May and June 2024.”

Washington, DC’s perspiration problem is exacerbated by both heat and humidity. In an already hot region, the city’s closeness to water—specifically, the Potomac River—adds moisture, as anyone familiar with the local terrain will tell you.
