Neary 100 firefighters battle commercial building fire in downtown Los Angeles

On Tuesday morning, a commercial building fire in downtown Los Angeles prompted a higher alarm.

Twelve fire departments and around 100 firemen were fighting the flames of a two-story building at the intersection of Hope and Pico streets, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

According to the LAFD, crews were able to keep the fire contained to the building where it began and stop it from spreading to other buildings nearby.

The facility was separated by a wall into two businesses, according to a LAFD official. In both areas, the fire was burning.

While police look into the incident, Hope Street will stay closed in both directions at Pico Street. It is advised that drivers take other routes.

There were no reported injuries. The fire’s cause is unknown.
