Due to the horrific wildfires raging in Los Angeles County, the NBA confirmed that Thursday night’s game between the LA Lakers and the Charlotte Hornets will be postponed.
A game that was supposed to take place in downtown Los Angeles has been postponed for the second day in a row.On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL were supposed to host the Calgary Flames.
The rescheduled games’ date has not yet been revealed. Tickets for the Kings’ postponed game against Calgary will still be available on the new date, the team announced.
NFL Playoffs
Due to the disastrous flames, Monday night’s NFC wild-card round postseason game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings was rescheduled to Arizona. Originally, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood was supposed to host the game.
The NFL declared on Thursday that the game would now take place at the Arizona Cardinals’ home field, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
A Monday night regular-season game between the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers was rescheduled by the league in 2003 because of wildfires to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.
Both the Los Angeles Chargers and the Rams train in locations that are not at risk of fire, but they are keeping an eye on the air quality and how it can affect their training.
In an effort to reduce the amount of time their players spend outside in coastal El Segundo, the Chargers modified their practice schedule on Wednesday. Following practice on Thursday, the Chargers will head to Houston for their Saturday AFC wild-card game against the Texans.
To cut down on playing time, coach Jim Harbaugh had the Chargers’ offensive and defensive units practice independently. On Wednesday, the air quality at the team’s compound was 185. More than 150 is seen as unhealthy.
Thursday was the first practice for the Rams. The Santa Monica Mountains separate Woodland Hills, a community roughly 13 miles north of the Pacific Palisades, which has been devastated by fire, from their headquarters.
