Multiple mudflows force road closures near Palisades Fire burn scar

Several roads in the Palisades Fire burn scar had to be closed on Sunday due to several significant mudflows.

The first closure, which occurred in the region devastated by the early January wildfire, was reported at approximately 4 p.m. on Palisades Drive, which runs downhill from Avenida De Santa Ynez and Paseo Vista Hermosa.

One tractor was seen clearing the rubble from the two-lane road as SkyCal flew above the location of the slide.

According to a post from the department on X, the California Highway Patrol also blocked the Pacific Coast Highway, just west of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, for a separate mudflow around half an hour later.

A few trucks were observed slowly wading through the dense debris.
