Man Arrested For Attempted Murder in Shooting at Northwest Miami-Dade Liquor Store

A man was detained by Miami-Dade police on Tuesday. He is accused of shooting a longtime friend outside a liquor store in May, according to the police.

Attempts at murder and felon in possession of a handgun are among the allegations against 33-year-old Wilson Augustin of northwest Miami-Dade. His criminal record in Florida includes convictions for this and other offenses, including violently resisting arrest and battery on a law enforcement official.

According to the police, Augustin, who had just completed a purchase, returned to a white Nissan Maxima, and surveillance footage showed the 34-year-old victim coming to the business.

The video allegedly shows Augustin and the victim having a verbal exchange, according to the arrest request. The video then cuts to Augustin arguing with the victim as he turns the sedan around, hits him in the leg with a gun, and then ends with Augustin turning into oncoming traffic.

Following treatment at North Shore Medical Center, the victim informed detectives that Augustin was the gunman, according to the police. The victim’s companion accompanied them.

Police claimed to have apprehended Augustin on Tuesday near the intersection of Carmel Lakes Drive and Ives Dairy Road in Miami-Dade’s northeast.

Online records from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center reveal that he was being held without bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
