Letters to Sports: USC fans reaching their breaking point with Lincoln Riley

Lincoln Riley is the worst coach in history!

I discovered the cause of the bad performance of the USC football team this season. A straightforward typo. Instead of saying “Transfer to Big SKY Conference,” the contract says “Transfer to Big TEN Conference.”

Last Saturday, Steve Sarkisian, Clay Helton, and Lane Kiffin emerged victorious. Their records were all superior to USC’s. What do you believe to be the true issue?

I graduated from USC in 1962, the year when the legendary John McKay led us to a national championship! We had swagger, were respected, and were feared. My parents, who attended USC under Howard Jones, had always talked about how great the USC football program was. During the Pete Carroll period, my son enrolled in a PhD program. Those years are all in the past now. We deserve better, in the opinion of countless disgruntled supporters. Riley’s bad play calling caused yet another last-minute loss against Notre Dame, and the collective groan in the Coliseum was the final straw for this devoted Trojan.

This year, Miller Moss performed admirably. Regretfully, he suffered the consequences of his losses because they were all near. The positive aspect of the USC program was Moss. Would it be possible for Moss to play football for an Ivy League school, enjoy his last season, and earn a prestigious MBA in the process? I do know that the school will have a class athlete wherever Moss ends his football career.
