Letters to Sports: Readers suspect the Chiefs get help from officials

I am certain that the NFL considers the Chiefs to be their Cinderella team after seeing the Chiefs vs. Bills game because, according to the officials, they defend Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. I came saw two stories that questioned the Chiefs games’ officiating. Although I’m not a huge NFL fan, I am aware of football, and this is a disgrace to the league.

For decades, I have watched professional football both on TV and in person. It is challenging to deceive the public in the modern era of television replaying contentious plays from several perspectives and officials conducting follow-up checks. In the Chiefs vs. Bills game, the two controversial calls were incorrect.

I’m not sure if the officials’ actions are biased, the result of other forces, or simply careless, but professional football and possibly the government should examine and decide on them.

I should also mention that the legalized gambling that is so common in professional sports does not improve the situation. Even while it may not be related to Sunday’s game, it will eventually blow up and lead to an investigation of such referee decisions.

I should be at SoFi Stadium seeing the Rams and Commanders play, but instead I’m watching the Eagles play the Commanders. The two blind NFL officials who failed to see Saquon Barkley’s long-term potential were the difference. You can see holding on the defensive end and tackle during the run, which is why the opening was so large. It suggests that the NFL is interested in Barkley vs. Mahomes.

Stars in every sport appear to receive calls that regular players and rookies do not. Michael Jordan was a frequent traveler. For pitches on the black, Greg Maddox was given the benefit of the doubt. Tom Brady was an expert whiner, but he also appeared to be shielded by the referees. However, I believe that the irregularities of referees and umpires are more to blame than partiality or clumsy attempts to rig a game.

Baseball’s digitally imposed strike zone and high-resolution replays from many perspectives in all sports today amply demonstrate the true abilities and shortcomings of some referees.
