Bill Plaschke’s article about John Wooden mentoring Cori Close was excellent. I had no idea that Wooden’s favorite sport was women’s college basketball. Like Mookie Betts and Kik Hernandez did for the Dodgers, Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice should be able to win a title.

Having owned a season ticket for almost a decade, I am aware of Coach Close’s dynamic nature. She is an amazing speaker, leader, and selfless role model. Together with the team, coaches, and staff, she has created a fantastic, upbeat atmosphere for the players and gamegoers. Everyone is still inspired by her relationship with mentor John Wooden.
