While investigating a fatal hit-and-run in South Los Angeles early Wednesday morning, two officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were hospitalized after being struck by a car.
According to LAPD officers, it occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. near E. Slauson Avenue and Avalon Boulevard after they were notified of a pedestrian crash.
Police said they were struck by another car who was passing through the area while they were investigating the incident, which resulted in the death of the unnamed male victim at the scene.
However, that driver pulled over and stayed to assist the cops.
Both cops are expected to recover, according to LAPD authorities.
A gray automobile was parked on the side of the road around 100 yards from the victim’s body, which was in the center of the road, when SkyCal passed over the scene of the collision. According to the police, this car most likely played a part in the fatal collision.
