This staple store had already closed several large shops around the country and now announces 13 heartbreaking closures in Ohio.
Rite Aid is eliminating an increasing number of its Ohio locations as it fights its way out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to CNBC affiliate WKYC Studios.
Thirteen more Ohio locations will be among the thirty additional stores that will close, according to paperwork filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on July 12.
Which Ohio Rite Aid locations are closing?
The Ohio Rite Aid locations that are set to close this year are listed below:
- 2220 South Locust Street, Canal Fulton; Columbiana; 14973 South Avenue
- 2916 Linden Avenue, Dayton
- 207 North Court Street; Mount Vernon
- 4 Newark Road; Parma
- 5795 State Road; Rossford
- 801 Dixie Highway; Lima
- 3710 Shawnee Road; Maumee
- 105 Golden Gate Plaza
- 210 Main Street, Toledo
- 10 W. National Road, Vandalia
- 825 Main Street, Zanesville
Additionally, Rite Aid declared that thirty shops in Ohio and Michigan would close between July 5 and June 28.
The drugstore business shut down an additional 27 locations in the two states earlier in June.
Additionally, on June 28, a U.S. bankruptcy judge granted Rite Aid’s restructuring plan, enabling the drugstore chain to pay off $2 billion in debt and give a consortium of its lenders ownership of the business.

Rite Aid will emerge from bankruptcy with about 1,300 locations left, according to NBC News.
Shortly after the pharmacy chain filed for Chapter 11 last October, the first list of 154 Rite Aid stores to closure was made public.
Ohio accounted for six of the 154 closures, with locations in Massillon and Youngstown among them.
Rite Aid had more than 2,000 locations around the country at the time.
Rite Aid announced the closure of 32 additional stores in November 2023, including those in Broadview Heights, Canton, East Liverpool, Fairlawn, and Willoughby.
In late January, Rite Aid shuttered an additional 55 shops, including 18 locations in Ohio.
Rite Aid said in April that it would be closing five facilities in Ohio, including one each in Lakewood and Massillon (the shop on Wales Avenue).
On its website, Rite Aid states that 142 of its Ohio facilities are still operational.
However, based on numerous bankruptcy files made since last year, over 100 stores in the Buckeye State are expected to close their doors at some point.
