Hughes Fire burning in Castaic area of Los Angeles County

Authorities reported that a brush fire that has burned at least 50 acres close to the Castaic hamlet in Los Angeles County is attracting firefighters.

Known as the Hughes Fire, the fire is situated just north of Castaic Reservoir Road off Lake Hughes Road, according to Angeles National Forest officials. Because of the exceptionally low humidity and Santa Ana winds that increase the risk of wildfires, forecasters have issued a Red Flag Warning for that region of the Santa Clarita Valley, as well as several other areas of Los Angeles and surrounding Ventura counties.

It was 50 acres just before 11 a.m., according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
