Fire-ravaged Los Angeles area braces for more high winds as “Particularly Dangerous Situation” alert is issued

One week after some of the most deadly wildfires in California broke out, Southern California is getting ready for another “Particularly Dangerous Situation.”

A “particularly dangerous situation” red flag warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for a large portion of Ventura and Los Angeles counties. It will remain in force until Wednesday at noon. Low-humidity winds from the northeast to the east will be the most damaging on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The National Weather Service only occasionally issues this kind of red flag warning under severe circumstances.

“Areas in the red flag warning (especially during the PDS time frame) will have a high risk for large fires with very rapid fire spread, extreme fire behavior, and long range spotting,” the National Weather Service stated.

It is predicted that wind gusts will be between 55 and 70 mph.

Additionally, a high wind warning is in effect through Wednesday at noon. locations such as the Santa Clarita Valley, Agoura Hills, Malibu Coast, Calabasas, and the San Gabriel Mountains.

Strong winds have the potential to topple trees and bring down power lines. Residents are advised by weather officials to secure outside items and steer clear of high-profile cars during severe gusts.

Weather specialists caution that there is still a significant risk of fire even though lighter winds are predicted.
