El Monte police shoot and kill suspect after disturbance at local Target

Following a fatal gunshot outside a Chase Bank on Monday night, police in El Monte shuttered a block.

Around 8:40 p.m., someone reported a customer causing a disturbance and refused to leave a nearby Target, which sparked the incident. The El Monte Police Department was informed by witnesses that the individual was carrying a gun in his waistband.

Officers attempted to pull the guy over immediately after he left the establishment. According to El Monte Police Department, he refused to stop, which led to a brief pursuit.

Shortly after, the suspect leaped from the vehicle and attempted to flee from the police. The man was shot by police near the Chase Bank at the intersection of Tyler Avenue and Main Street. At the scene, authorities declared him dead and found a gun.

No one else was sent to a hospital by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
