Ducks goaltender John Gibson suffers upper-body injury during 1st period

During the first period of Saturday night’s game against the Nashville Predators, Ducks goalie John Gibson sustained an upper-body injury. He was replaced in between periods.

At the beginning of the second period, Lukas Dostal assumed responsibility for netminding. After 20 minutes, the Ducks led 2-1 after to Gibson’s nine saves in the first quarter.

Gibson has missed two games this season because of injuries. He missed the following two games after being struck in the right eye by a stick blade during a game against the Vegas Golden Knights on December 23.

After having an emergency appendectomy, Gibson missed the first 12 games of the regular season as well.

Gibson had a 20-game record of 8-8-2, a 2.76 goals-against average, and a.914 save percentage going into Saturday’s match. He is five wins short from matching Jean-Sebastien Giguere for the most wins in Ducks history, with 201 wins in his career.
