Driver of police pursuit through the Valley and Hollywood is in custody

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department have taken into custody the driver who led them on a fast-paced pursuit through the Valley and Hollywood region. Also in detention are the two passengers who were inside the vehicle.

The pursuit started Friday morning at approximately 9 a.m. at the intersection of Mulholland Drive and the 405 Freeway, and it proceeded via both surface streets and freeways. An irresponsible driver driving a gray Nissan Altima with Florida license plates sped up to 120 miles per hour.

The chase proceeded via Valley Village, North Hollywood, the 170 and 101 freeways, and ended on Sun Valley’s surface streets.

Due to carjacking, the driver was wanted. The three allegedly used physical force to take the vehicle, according to the LAPD.

Police first stated that there might have been up to five persons inside the sedan, which had body damage on the driver’s side. Around 9:12 a.m., the motorist entered North Hollywood’s surface streets, traveling up to 75 mph while running red lights and violating all traffic laws.

Three persons stepped out of the car and casually entered the Sun Valley apartment building parking lot after the driver pulled to a stop at a dead-end roadway. After police arrived, the suspects fled, with officers pursuing them on foot. About twenty-five minutes later, the other passenger was in police custody, while the driver and one of the passengers were arrested right away.

The LAPD has charged all three individuals with felony carjacking and evasion.
