Decomposing body found at bottom of cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes

Over the weekend, a rotting body was discovered close to a cliffside in Rancho Palos Verdes, and an investigation is currently underway.

The body was found by a hiker on Saturday afternoon, prompting the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to dispatch deputies to the cliffs in the 31000 block of Palos Verdes Drive.

“The unknown adult appears to have been deceased at the location for an extended period due to severe decomposition,” according to a statement issued by LASD.

The victim may have died after falling from Dina’s Viewpoint, according to investigators.

The body is unrelated to the human remains that were recently found along the Rancho Palos Verdes shoreline, which investigators believe are linked to two boaters who vanished after their boat flipped on Tuesday, they added.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call (323) 890-5500 to reach LASD’s Homicide Bureau.
