Cooler temperatures expected in Southern California over weekend before next Santa Ana wind event

Before another Santa Ana event forms early next week, southern California will see lower and windier temperatures during the weekend.

Paul Deanno, a meteorologist for CBS News Los Angeles, predicted quiet weather for Monday. This weekend, there will be breezes from the ocean that will produce a marine layer. Lower clouds may be present in certain places, but they should dissipate by mid-morning.

“Next week, there will be some modifications. I don’t anticipate a recurrence of the 100 mph winds that occurred two weeks ago. However, it’s still quite dry,” Deanno remarked.

Beginning Monday, Ventura and Los Angeles counties will be hit by another moderate to strong Santa Ana wind episode, according to the National Weather Services.

The Santa Ana wind-prone corridors in Ventura and Los Angeles counties may experience the heaviest gusts from Monday night into Tuesday morning. During this time, the NWS has issued a fire weather watch.

Red flag warnings are anticipated for a large portion of Ventura County and portions of Los Angeles County, according to weather forecasters. Dry weather brought on by low humidity will increase the risk of fire.

Gusts of 45 to 65 mph are possible along the valleys and coasts. Wind gusts of up to 80 mph were possible in the foothill and mountain regions.

Trees falling, power disruptions, and hazardous sea conditions might result from moderate to powerful guts.

Areas of greatest concern in Ventura County:

Only.16 inches of rain have fallen on Los Angeles this season, according to Deanno. The region received 3.40 inches of rain over the previous season.
