NEW YORK In a spectacular Christmas debut, the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 117-114 on Wednesday thanks to a season-high 41 points from Mikal Bridges and 42 points from Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama added 18 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks in addition to setting a Spurs record most points during the holiday. Six three-pointers were made by the Western Conference player of the week winner.
However, Bridges made sure the Knicks had just enough scoring to win their fifth straight game and move up to 20-10 by shooting 17 for 25 from the field and 6 for 9 from beyond the arc.
Jalen Brunson scored 20 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 21 points and nine rebounds. Josh Hart ended with six assists, twelve rebounds, and twelve points.
For the Spurs, Jeremy Sochan finished with nine rebounds and 21 points.
