An earthquake of 5.3 on Tuesday night, with its epicentre in Lamont, California, close to Bakersfield, struck Kern County, as reported by the US Geological Survey.
Multiple aftershocks occurred after the 5.3 earthquake that occurred at 9:09 p.m. PT.
Orange County and the entirety of Los Angeles were impacted by the earthquake.
Following the original quake, there were over a dozen aftershocks, the strongest of which was 4.5 on the Richter scale and the second weakest was 4.1 on the same region scale.

Seismic activity in the Grapevine area, spanning from Kern County to Santa Clarita (north of Los Angeles), has persisted, according to the US Geological Survey.
So far, there have been no reports of damage in Los Angeles County, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, as reported to KABC7 Los Angeles. Nevertheless, the Los Angeles Fire Department is prepared for an earthquake.
