Police respond to Los Angeles-area barricaded suspect with a sword

After an alleged sword-wielding man holed himself inside a Crenshaw apartment, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department encircled a Baldwin Hills neighborhood.

Just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, police reported receiving a call regarding a guy brandishing a sword while pursuing another individual. The guy then locked himself in an apartment on Gibraltar Avenue and August Street, according to the police.

The individual who is barricaded might also be carrying a firearm. In an effort to persuade the suspect to leave the flat, a SWAT squad was dispatched to the site.

The story is still evolving.
