Sue Kujkwa, who had lived in Altadena for thirty-two years, walked throughout her neighborhood every morning.
Despite the Eaton Fire destroying her home west of Lake Avenue, she returned on Sunday to continue her daily stroll.
“I spent thirty-two years living west of Lake. Every morning, I took a stroll through this area. Thus, our goal is to observe what we can,” she stated.
She was met with a painful new reality instead of the sense of normalcy she had hoped for.
“How the oddball tiny cottage that was covered in paper plates has simply vanished. The yards individuals put so much effort into repairing are no longer there. “It’s really depressing,” she stated while crying.
Beginning on January 7th, the Eaton Fire damaged 1,073 buildings and destroyed about 10,000 others. It burned across 14,021 acres and was 95 percent contained by Saturday.
