Brush fire burning near homes in Jurupa Valley

In Jurupa Valley, near the Santa Ana Riverbed, firefighters are combating a brush fire that is presently burning near residences.

When Riverside County Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene, the Clay Fire, which had been reported at approximately 4:45 p.m. at Clay Street and Van Buren Boulevard, was promptly upgraded to a Third Alarm fire.

Residents in zone RIV-0182-B who lived north of Jurupa Avenue, south of Pedley Road, east of Crest Avenue, and west of Van Buren Boulevard were under an evacuation notice shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
