Two arrested for violating curfew near Brentwood home of Vice President Kamala Harris, police say

According to police, two people were taken into custody early on Saturday morning for breaking the curfew that was in place while the Palisades Fireraged next to Vice President Kamala Harris’ Brentwood residence.

The Los Angeles Police Department said that after hearing reports of a break-in, officers were sent to the scene. When they arrived, they discovered no evidence of such a crime.

They did, however, make two arrests for violating a curfew that was enforced in evacuation areas close to the fire site.

As the fire, which has burned about 24,000 acres and destroyed hundreds of buildings since it started on Tuesday, grew more intense and veered into Mandeville Canyon and the Brentwood region, Harris’ community was placed under evacuation.

“No one was in her home at the time,” V.P. Press Secretary Ernie Apreza wrote in a post on X.

Who called LAPD dispatch about the burglary is unknown.

Before the evacuation order, a curfew was enforced from sunset to sunrise in areas affected by evacuation orders and advisories by Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna and other local officials. They claim that the action was taken to better give firemen a place to combat fires and in reaction to fears of looting at abandoned residences.
