Police pursuit in Rialto ends in deadly crash

During a police pursuit in Rialto on Thursday morning, a man crashed into a wall and died.

At 3:42 a.m., the Rialto Police Department reported receiving a call regarding a collision at Meridian Avenue and Baseline Road.

According to the RPD, officers tried to pull over a 2020 white Camaro for breaking a vehicle code.

According to authorities, the 23-year-old driver of the Camaro started driving quickly west on Meridian Avenue toward Baseline Road. For roughly a mile, officers pursued the suspect.

The vehicle struck a wall while attempting to turn left on Baseline Road. After being taken to the hospital, he was declared deceased.

It’s unknown if alcohol played a role in the collision, however the RPD stated that speed was a contributing issue.
