The stadium’s renovation plan is divided into two stages, the first of which is expected to be finished prior to the 2028 Olympic Games, when soccer will be played at the Rose Bowl, and the second following.
In order to get the project moving forward, the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation launched a Lasting Legacy fundraising effort this year. The campaign raised enough money to cover the six components of Phase 1, three of which have already been finished.
Now, the emphasis is on raising the $45 million to $50 million needed for Phase 2, which includes a significantly updated videoboard and better stadium seating.

Three components of Phase 1 have already been finished: the restoration of the historic Rose Bowl sign, a modern sound system, and a safe-standing area for kids on the east side of the bowl. Improvements to stadium cellular service, gas and water infrastructure upgrades, and a field club in the south end zone are all planned over the next two years.
