An iconic store in California is closing its doors for good as a well-known department store brand prepares to exit the state.
Next month, Sears will shut down its iconic store in Stockton, California, leaving the firm with only about ten locations remaining in the United States.
As CBS News noted, the Stockton Sears store has a long history of serving the neighborhood.
The CBS13 CBS Sacramento announced the impending shutdown in a Facebook post.
One of Sears’s admirers said, “The end of an era.”
I really like going to Sears in Sacramento. Amazing deals, high-quality home appliances, etc.
“When we were residents of Stockton, we used to frequent that store frequently,” another local customer said.

The US Sun states that the Stockton store will close in August, adding to the chain’s 12 remaining outlets in the US.
Sears has not yet declared when they will be closing.

A Sears employee from Stockton informed USA Today Gannett affiliate The Record on Monday that the shop will be closing in “mid August,” though no official date has been published as of yet.
In order to inform customers that the store is closing, there are signs outside the location that read “Store Closing” and similar signs within the store. This ensures that all merchandise has been sold out.
“Everything must go!” reads the signs posted throughout the business.
In addition, there are announcements regarding steep discounts, with the hope that customers will make purchases to help the store clear out its inventory before it permanently closes.
“Everything at least 25% to 70% off lowest ticketed price” is the claim made on sale signage within the Sears shop.
